On May 17, 2019, Astra Infra, through PT Astra Tol Nusantara, officially acquired a 44.49% stake in PT Jasamarga Surabaya Mojokerto (JSM), the concession holder for the Surabaya-Mojokerto (Sumo) toll road.
The 36.27 km Sumo Toll Road is divided into several sections: Section IA Waru-Sepanjang (2.3 km), Section IB Sepanjang-Western Ring Road (4.3 km), Section II WRR-Driyorejo (5.1 km), Section III Driyo-Krian (6.1 km), and Section IV Krian-Mojokerto Kota (18.47 km). The Sumo toll road, which connects the Jombang-Mojokerto and Surabaya-Gempol toll roads, has been fully operational since December 19, 2017.
The Sumo toll road is a strategic part of the Trans Java toll road, connecting Surabaya with the western part of East Java. The existence of this toll road is expected to improve connectivity and become the main national logistics route, thereby increasing the economic potential of East Java and its surrounding areas.
